Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of focusing your awareness on the present moment, over and over again. It is not the same as meditation, but it can be practiced during meditation or while you’re doing everyday activities such as walking or even sitting on a bus. Through practice, you can retrain your mind to live in the present moment, a space where you can find happiness.

John Kabat-Zinn developed Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in 1979, which eventually became a program at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and is currently administered in courses of varying length around the world. The regular practice of mindfulness has many benefits, including reducing stress, anxiety and depression, increasing a sense of well-being, improving cognitive ability and helping with pain management.

With practice and patience, you too can strengthen your mental strength, resiliency and flexibility with mindfulness, an effective way experience happiness.
